Inspired by the iconic ‘80s film The Coolangatta Gold, the Coolangatta Gold has now become a huge annual affair that takes place each spring. For both athletes and spectators it’s a great time to be on the Gold Coast, and provides an exciting atmosphere that all ages and backgrounds can enjoy. The 41.8 km “Ironman” course tests Australia’s best athletes to the limit, featuring a 23 km ski, 2.1 km run, 3.5 km swim, 6.1 km board, and a final 7.1 km run to the finish line. There’s also a shorter course that comprises of a 10.5 km ski, 2 km swim, 3 km board, and a final 5.5 km run for those that want to experience the Coolangatta Gold but don’t want to do the full 41.8 km.
